IT departments. Have you ever had the misfortune to have to call one for help? Lovely Man came in a few weeks ago and mentioned that his father had a ‘funny logo’ on his computer.
I popped round to take a look and realised it was a virus – and not just any virus. This one was a little bugger 😦
So we duly took the computer back to the store to be repaired, only for it to have to have the whole hard drive replaced (I told you it was a little bugger!)
I went over to set it up again – he’s a silver surfer, and very computer illiterate. I removed all the icons that might have confused him, leaving only Outlook, Word and Chrome. So it was simple enough for anyone to use. Except him…..sigh.
We’ve had phone calls almost every evening saying he can’t log into this or that, so it was back round today to see if it could be sorted. I ended up calling IT FIVE times!
The IT man said ‘reset the password’. Computer said no.
The IT man said ‘refresh the page’. Computer said no.
The IT man said ‘check the username’. Computer said no.
In the end I could gladly have thrown the bloody thing out of the window. I got it sorted – finally. It only took 4 hours or so.
I have to admit, I’m dreading the phone ringing this evening.
